LNG Basics

WHAT IS LNG?

LNG is simply natural gas that has been super-cooled to negative 245 degrees Fahrenheit (-245 deg F). At Frontier LNG, we produce natural gas (methane gas) from our own wells, purify it, and then super-cool the methane gas to the desired temperature. The methane, converted to a liquid state, is a stable liquid that can be transported and stored in specially designed cryogenic vessels.

BENEFITS OF LNG

In short, LNG is cheaper, safer, and more environmentally friendly than rival fuel sources such as propane.

When containerized and transported, LNG is typically at a pressure of 8-15 psi. Vessels are designed to ventilate should pressure exceed the maximum allowable limit. At such low pressures, LNG is NOT an explosion hazard.

Environmentally speaking, in the unlikely event that an LNG leak should occur, the supercooled liquid would instantly evaporate and would not contaminate the soil, plants, animals, fish, water, etc. Rival fuels could not make the same claim.

But the best reason to switch to LNG is the cost savings! Switching from propane to LNG can save you 30% to 50% on your annual heating and cooling bills.

WHAT ABOUT DELIVERY OF LNG?

At Frontier LNG, we produce liquified natural gas at our own facility and then ship it via truck directly to the customer’s “virtual pipeline.” Frontier LNG will ensure promptly scheduled LNG deliveries to your location by qualified, certified drivers.
